Marco Frey

Professor Marco Frey is the Director of the Istituto di Management - Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna - Pisa, since March 2011. 

He was born in 1961 in Bergamo, and now he lives in Pisa (Italy) with his family. He holds a degree in Economic and Social Sciences from the Bocconi University, Milan. In 2000 he was awarded the Eisenhower Exchange Fellowship, with a project on the application of environmental voluntary tools in the U.S. at local level.

He is the leader of a research group, which is focused on the following main fields: Environmental, Corporate Social Responsibility, Renewable Energy and Waste Management. Professor Frey is the President of the steering committee of the MeS (Healthcare Management) Lab.  He has also been Research Director at IEFE since 1986 (Centre for Research on Energy and Environmental Economics and Policy - Bocconi University, Milan). 

Here are some of the positions which he holds:

• Chairman of the Global Compact Italian Network, which is a body of the United Nations within the Global Compact Program.
• Member of the Board of Directors of Cariplo Foundation, which is a private grantmaking foundation with a banking origin.
• Member of the Board of Directors of Fondaca (Active Citizenship Foundation), which is a European think tank created in 2001.
• Director of the II level Master Degree in Environment Management and control: tecniques and tecnologies for the waste cycle of the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies.
• President of the steering committee of CEGL - Center of Excellence on Geothermal Energy, Larderello (Pisa, Italy).
• Founding Member of Ergo S.r.l., which is a spin-off enterprise of the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies.
• Consultant for Confindustria (SIS Project), the Bank of Italy and Assolombarda (Green Economy Network), on Environmental Management and Health and Safety at work.
• Member of CESISP - Centre for the Development of Products Sustainability

Since 2009 he has taught a class in Energy Economics and Management of Environmental Goods at Cattolica University, Milan.
